LIFE MASTERY/INSPIRATIONAL/FREEDOM

August 3rd, 2009

Aug. 3, 2009
Aloha Friends,

A number of people have admired the name of my web site, Life Mastery Skills, and asked me to explain how I chose it.

The name has great significance for me. When I started my career in 1973, I had a firm conviction that if we were taught the skills we need to have a happy, fulfilled and peaceful life many of us would not suffer.

In 2006 I decided to offer the skills needed so we could lead a life whose foundation is based in trust in our inner wisdom. which is accessed through contemplation and which brings clarity fulfillment, peace and joy.

To create the practice that would bring the above results was my goal. My professional experience showed me that each of us knows the answers we need at any given moment. What we don’t know is the question that will lead us to the answers we need.

I chose to use the Universal Truths that had come through me at a three month meditation retreat in 1982. I developed exercises that gave you the questions you needed to ask yourself, to experience how a specific  Universal Truth applied to your specific problem.

After working with many students and seeing the miraculous results of this methodology I decided to make this path available to all through the web.

Now I needed a name. As I pondered and prayed I realized I was offering a path to personal freedom by giving people the opportunity to master the skills they needed to create the life they desired.

Many people feel frustrated by the discrepancy between where they are at and where they want to be. They feel trapped by old patterns and habits that they want to brake and don’t feel they can. The exercises I have created go to the heart of the matter, which is, how am I creating what I don’t want and how could I do it differently?

It is not enough to affirm what we want, we must learn what is going on in our subconscious mind that is in conflict with what we are affirming. To do this takes skill. This is the skill you develop as you use Life Mastery Skills. As you learn how you are sabotaging yourself, you are also taught what actions you need to take to live your affirmations. THIS IS HOW YOU BECOME A MASTER.

It takes practice to master anything, whether it is a sport, a diet, an exercise program, the internet, meditation, contemplation, dancing, painting, or life skills. Anything worth while takes time, patience, practice and energy to manifest.

I invite you to join in on the exciting adventurous journey of your life, learning how to master our obstructions and live the life we are meant to live. I send you blessings of peace, joy and love, Sheila Radha

INDEPENDENCE/LIBERATION/INSPIRATION

July 6th, 2009

Aloha,

Happy Independence Day!

When I think of true independence, I think of liberation from human limitations and suffering. When we are able to accept reality we are liberated.

Life presents us with many challenges, most are unexpected, some are exciting and some confront us with our fears and worries.

My twelve year old granddaughter is visiting for three weeks, last Friday night her Dad, my son, called to tell her, her dog was killed by a coyote. As my husband and I held her as she went through her grief and lose, I was reminded of how fragile the human condition is. I listened to her say again and again this could not have happened, her dog could not be dead. I could feel her suffering and pain as she held me and pleaded for this not to be true, her dog had not done anything wrong and should not die.

I comforted her by telling her it was a horrid thing that had happened, and death was not a punishment for doing “something wrong”. Death was a fact of life. One we must all deal with and no matter how much we loved someone we could not stop their death.

I shared with her how when my mom died when I was 10 years old, I had the same feelings she was having. I heard her say the same words I had said.

Together we lit a candle, chanted and burned incense to send her dog’s soul on its next journey. We spoke about what a sweet dog Ginger was. Intermittently she cried, that this could not be true. We assured her it was true and it was very sad.

We gave a her a stuffed dog to hold onto and cry to and a soft shawl to wrap herself in. She came to sit with me in my meditation room and took comfort from the energy there. I told her she could go there anytime she wanted to. We printed a picture of Ginger and put flowers around it and kept a candle lit by the photo.

After having ice cream for diner and watching a movie, she slept with us that night and we held her and let her be sad.

The next day was a very sad day for her. She spoke with her mom and dad often and they cried together. We held her, soothed her and allowed her to mourn. She fell asleep that night holding my hand.

She awoke the next day and said, “Grand mom I feel happy today”. Later that day, after going to the beach, she said, “Grand mom, I think I have accepted that Ginger is dead.”  I told her how glad I was because having accepted the truth, she would be sad and she would not suffer from fighting reality. She said, “I know.”

I share this with you because I learned a great deal from her. She grieved, she spoke her feelings, she prayed for her dog, she faced the truth, regardless of how painful. And than she accepted reality and went on with life. Of course, she still feels sad, however, because she is not denying reality she is liberated from suffering.

May we all accept reality and release suffering. LEARN HOW AT www.lifemasteryskills.com

Micheal Jackson’s Death

June 25th, 2009

I just read that Micheal Jackson died. The death of some one so popular, young, and rich is an opportunity to remember the Truth. We do not know how long we will live or how long the ones we love will live. This is a Universal Truth that most of us deny. We do this in many small ways, such as, putting off telling someone how much they mean to us, apologizing when we make a mistake, taking time to smell the roses, to name a few. By not learning the skills we all need to live by the “Golden Rule”. I encourage you to remember we only have this moment, there are no other moments.

LOVE, SELF AWARENESS, EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

June 22nd, 2009

June is often the month many of us associate with marriage. I am reminded of movies that said ….”and than they lived happily ever after.”  THE END. Of course, the truth is, it is the beginning.

When  we marry, we each agree to include in our well being the other ; “for better or for worse”. None of us fully understands what this means.  When understanding begins to happen, some of us get divorced, others shut down, and others become angry. Few of us have the maturity and  wisdom to see the opportunity that life is offering us.
In order to live happily ever after, we must first be in a state of personal happiness. If we are not happy within ourselves we will not be capable of being happy with another.

In any long term relationship, such as marriage, we are confronted with the opportunity/challenge to become aware of how we judge ourselves and our partners. If we have the courage to do this, we will have begun a journey of self discovery that will led to happiness and fulfillment.

The journey requires us to be aware of how we think and how we feel without judging ourselves as good or bad or right or wrong. It also requires us to accept that we are human, as are our partners, and we all have the same human limitations.

Our tendency is to see these limitations or negativities in ourselves, deny or justify them and project them onto our partners and judge them harshly. The judgment then leads to our reactions: anger, resentment, or righteousness, to name a few.

The above behavior destroys the possibility of happiness and love in a long term relationship. When we are on  the journey of self awareness without judgment, we begin to relax, have more fun, and develop a sense of humor about the human condition.  All of this  leads to being more playful with our partners and ourselves. We stop taking ourselves so seriously, therefore, love, happiness and fulfillment flourish.

The secret to living “happily ever after”  is to put in the effort to learn and apply the skill of self awareness without judgment. When you learn Life Mastery Skills you will  be able to be aware without judgment.

My blessing for us is that we are willing to create our happiness together.

Let’s risk being successful

May 13th, 2009

Aloha,                                                                   5/13/09

“I WOULD RATHER MAKE MISTAKES THAN BE AFRAID TO ACT.” Radha

The insight above is one that  seems appropriate to share with you during the difficult and challenging financial times we are in. Even if you may be doing fine financially, so many people are not that it is impossible not to be impacted by all the negativity and fear that we are exposed to.

Although I acknowledge the truth of the financial times, I feel it is vital that we use self awareness in order to asses if we are limiting ourselves by being afraid to take risks.

When times are challenging, we have an opportunity intrinsic to each challenge we face, to be creative, to see new ways of dealing with familiar situations, to take a risk, to not let fear paralyze us.

REMEMBER THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN IS WE MIGHT FAIL. IF WE DO THE SAME THING THAT IS NOT WORKING WE WILL DEFINITELY FAIL.

So in truth what we risk is success. Think about this. If we were happy with the situation, we wouldn’t be thinking of changing anything. If we do something differently in a situation that needs to change we are only risking changing it for the better. There is absolutely no downside to this. Of course, our fearful mind will say, I could make it worse. This is “fear logic”, which is always based in false assumptions. If we are already in a situation that doesn’t work, we need to ask, “isn’t that bad enough?”

When we believe our “fear logic” we will continue to be frozen. Sense yourself and you will know whether what I say is or isn’t true.

So, I encourage you to take a risk. Who cares if you make a mistake? Who is watching anyway? The only one watching and attacking you for taking a risk is the critical, fearful mind.

I wish you a life that embraces change, challenges, and mistakes. WE ALL MAKE THEM AND CAN LEARN FROM THEM AND CAN LEARN TO LAUGH AT THEM. Aloha, Sheila Radha
